Directors Statement
All my films are about outsiders, and I seem to have a pattern making films about suffering loveless individuals. I suppose some of the imposter syndrome of has crept in from never going to film school. No one really gave me permission, so I gave myself precisely that: to channel my love of cinema growing up and deeply feeling the need to tell my stories and give my take on the world.
'Violet' is a culmination of my entire filmmaking journey in the last five years. On this film, I wanted every frame to be filmed with intention and play with the narrative structure of a non-linear noir. The film is very much indebted to the edge and rawness of a John Cassavetes drama with a bit of Scorsese energy, as well as the quiet introspective nature of Sofia Coppola and Greta Gerwig/ Noah Baumbach films.

Review
“…this exceeded my expectations. It’s GENUINELY good... It manages to be intelligent enough to actually be open to interpretation and allow the audience to make their own judgements, delivered by three lead actors who understand this and deliver really strong performances."
Jaymo Enwright - Letterboxd
“This film is an absolute masterclass in acting. Especially from the actress who played Georgia in the film. She is really able to immerse herself in the character, and portrays the complex dilemmas her character faces in a very engaging show not tell way.”
Lwfreqncythinkr - Letterboxd
“The film has recently screened at LA’s Golden State Film Festival at the TCL Chinese Theatre at the heart of Hollywood and walked away with a win for Best International Feature Film.”
